For the time for a further 15 months, football second division Hamburger SV can issue its home games in Volksparkstadion.
Investor Klaus-Michael Kühne has acquired the name rights from now on 30 June 2023.
“The name ‘Volksparkstadion’ is also for my hometown of Hamburg as for the traditional HSV. Of course, the finances also have to vote, and I am pleased if I can make a meaningful contribution,” the association cited the shareholder in a message.
Between 2001 and 2015, the 57,000 spectators had been renamed arena three times and carried the names AOL-Arena (2001 to 2007), HSH Nordbank Arena (2007 to 2010) and Imtech Arena (2007 to 2015) at this stage (2007 to 2010).
