Uli Hoeneß is not surprised by the discharge of coach Marco Rose near Borussia Dortmund. Anyone who becomes the new BVB coach is a clear thing for the honorary president of FC Bayern.
“I think Edin Terzic will be the legitimate successor. He has been in the starting blocks for a relatively long time. He demonstrated at the end of last season that he can lead the team. I think a lot of him,” said Hoene in interview with “RTL/NTV” for a change of coach in Dortmund.
Terzic, who has not yet been officially confirmed as the new head coach of the BVB, will “have the great support of the fans”, predicted Hoeneß.
Change of coach at BVB “not surprising” for Uli Hoeneß
Rose, from whom Borussia separated on Friday, had “not so much from the start”, the 70-year-old stated, “because Terzic had good success”.
According to Hoeneß, it was “an explosive mixture” that the native of Sauerland, the qualification for the Champions League and the Triumph in the DFB Cup as a technical director at BVB.
Dortmund’s managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke, supposedly the driving force behind Roses, knew that, said Hoeneß. “So it’s not surprising how it came now.”
BVB disappointed under Marco Rose
Rose had only taken over BVB last summer and led to the vice championship. In the title duel with FC Bayern, however, the Westphalia had no chance. In addition, the ambitious team left the Champions League, the Europa League and the DFB Cup early on.
When analyzing the season through the club management together with the trainer, the decision to separate was made on Thursday.
“After a season that was unsatisfactory for various reasons, we found that in many areas we did not get the maximum out of our possibilities,” said Watzke.
