Our mobile selection of the week: Sumire, to say with flowers

You know it, my birthday is tomorrow. What you may not know, on the other hand, is that it is also my father’s. Finally… it should have been if a blood clot did not stay in one of the vessels of his brain a little over five years ago. Since then, it’s always weird to blow my candles, I who all my life had to make room for those of my father on my birthday cake (even if it was rather the opposite, in reality). By a funny chance, I discovered Sumire a few days ago and I was seized by this poetic title at the very special resonance for me in this period and, of which, I think, we really all need in this moment.

Since the death of his grandmother, Sumire’s life has become dark. His father left (#menaretrash) and his mother, depressed, was completely enclosed on herself, leaving the little girl alone with his sorrow and his guilt to be so helpless to the situation. One night, she will discover a strange seed that will give birth the next morning to a magic flower. The young shoot will propose to Sumire to leave in the footsteps of his grandmother, hoping to see her again one last time. First scowling and frankly disillusioned, our young heroine will eventually agree to leave to the adventure alongside his new ephemeral friend, who will live only twenty-four hours in the world of humans. It will have to make this day, the sweetest and memorable of all days…
