“The derby is an extraordinary and important game for us,” says Borussia’s Chef coach Adi Hütter. The first leg was lost 1: 4, now the foal elf in the domestic Borussia park does not want to be cooked again by the old rivals from Cologne.
Positive from Gladbacher’s point of view that Jonas Hofmann is ready for the starting on Saturday for the starting eleven after being replaced in Fürth’s past weekend for a few minutes. “Jonas has already played several Derby and burns to be there on Saturday,” says Hütter. “He will be able to help us against Cologne. Anyway, I’m glad that he is back after his injury and Corona infection.”
For this Marcus Thuram will not be able to comb again. Most recently, the Frenchman was not ready for muscular complaints. “We have to wait for the result of another MRI investigation to make a final diagnosis,” says Hütter, who is very praising about the coach of the next opponent.
“Steffen Baumgart has its own idea how he wants to play football. He is a supertype, I appreciate him very much.” Hütters Marchroute: “Against Cologne you have to be very concentrated for over 90 minutes. The FC beats ligawide with most flanks and is very high, that’s an unpleasant opponent.”
Noteworthy that both teams are capable of high performance at very different times. Because Mönchengladbach scored 63 percent of all goals before the break, 26 out of 41, which is a league maximum. Opponents Cologne will obviously always awake something later: The FC shot 71 percent of his gates after the break, 29 out of 41, which is also the highest value of the league.
Incidentally, a defeat of the foal on Saturday would mean that for the first time since 1989/90 both Derbies lost within a season. Most recently, the local rivals were made more than 30 years ago two victories against Borussia: after a 2-0 in Mönchengladbach followed a 3-0 of the FC in Cologne. Trainer at the time of the double winner was Christoph Daum.
